Frequently Asked Questions

What is the story behind Root And Tallow?

Root And Tallow was founded on trying to just find skincare that worked and didn’t have all the skin drying harsh chemicals. It started small scale and only made for family and friends. Once realized it was gold, it was time to branch out and share it with everyone we knew and would learn to know!

What products do you offer?

We offer a range of products including whipped beef tallow, healing balms, chap sticks, and scented wax cubes. We are also excited to launch cold-processed soaps very soon and tons of products in the research process!

Why choose grass-fed tallow?

Grass-fed tallow is rich in nutrients and beneficial fatty acids, making it an excellent choice for skin health.

Are your products safe to use on babies?

Yes, all our products are crafted for sensitive skin including babies! All essential oils are mixed with a carrier oil before being mixed with the tallow. The tallow serves as a carrier oil itself. So the answer is Yes!

Our Story

Hi, Hello, How ya doing?!,

I am SO glad you’re here!

My name is Adrienne Cogburn, I am the one creating, posting, making tiktoks, taking pictures, packing and shipping orders and playing trial and error behind the scenes! Sounds hectic, it very much is but it’s a chaos and freedom I absolutely adore!
✨A little about me:
I am 32 years young.
I have the BEST other half ever, supporting every crazy idea or dream I have.
I have 4 kids (1 biologically and 3 bonus babies)
I work full time as an electrician.⚡
I have a fur baby named Oakley.
I LOVE all indoor plants and have quite the green thumb (thanks covid for making that happen)😅
I like to laugh, living my life as a ‘glass half full’ rather than half empty person. I probably laugh when I shouldn’t at times, but try to view the light at the end of the tunnel always.

What made me start this crazy idea?💡

I have struggled over the years finding products that didn’t make my skin greasy, or make it flare up in hives as I’m allergic to everything under the sun. Add in eczema to not only myself, but a lot of the kids as well. Something HAD to give! A friend at the time, was doing tallow and I decided to give it a try…it worked wonders. But cost wise, to have enough to use on myself plus the kids..it just wasn’t there for me. So I started researching how to make it for myself and kids and family. A lot of trial and error and here we are. My other half pushed me to start selling because turns out when you try to make a little, you make wayyyy more than you can ever use. So to start was coming up with a business name. The root of our home is the kitchen, kitchen and tallow sounds ridiculous. So Root and Tallow it was. Researching things to target a magnitude of areas, hormone balancing and things that were not only skin friendly but baby friendly too. So here we are. If I wouldn’t use it on myself or my kids I surely wouldn’t be selling it to others. In the past several months I’ve gotten to be the ‘safe’ space for some to vent, get to hear how my products have made a different in your daily routines, how It’s helped a scar fade or helped a diaper rash on your babies bottom. Ive built real lasting friendships and have gotten some amazing humans who have stayed loyal to me and my brand.
I’m not a big box store, I’m not amazon, I am a Momma, with a dream to create healthy products that you can recognize the ingredient’s and understand what they do for your skin.

So with all that,
Hello. I am SO glad you’re here.

Please, feel free to message me with your questions. I am always more than happy to answer.

Much love,
🫶🏼
